California Water Bond Compromise Headed to Voters

California voters will consider a $7.5 Billion Water Bond in November following a deal that was struck between Governor Jerry Brown and lawmakers on August 13th. The new version replaces an $11.1 Billion Water Bond that did not make it to the ballot over fears California voters would reject it.

CDFA Extends Deadline for SWEEP Grant

The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has extended the deadline for applications to the State Water Efficiency and Enhancement Program (SWEEP) to July 29, 2014. The SWEEP grant program is authorized by California emergency drought legislation (Senate Bill 103). An estimated $10 million in competitive grant funding will be awarded to provide financial assistance to agricultural operations for implementation of water conservation measures that result in increased water efficiency and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

SWRCB Offering One Percent Loans for Water Recycling Projects

As announced earlier this year, the State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) has funding available in 1 percent loans – approximately half the already low current interest rate – for water recycling projects that can be completed within three years of Governor Brown’s January 17, 2014 Drought Proclamation.
